Muriel and her husband Lee are about to start a bright new life, but the arrival of Lee’s brother gets in the way. Muriel embarks on a secret life, gambling with racehorses and discovering a love she never thought possible. The film’s first promotional image gave the misleading impression that the story might involve a romance between Muriel (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Julius (Jacob Elordi). In fact, there is no love relationship between Julius and Muriel in the film: Julius is actually gay and in love with a man..
